A PBX (Private Branch eXchange) is effectively a small telephone exchange that is owned by a company or business. It enables the business to reduce the number of telephone line, whereas without a PBX each telephone would require its own line. By utilising a PBX a business only needs as many lines as the maximum number of calls being made at any one time, this is because each call from an extension is passed via the PBX which in turn is connected to the PSTN line (service provider). Inbound calls are handled in a similar way ins o much that a PBX can send the call to a specific extension as required.
An IP PBX works in exactly the same way as a ‘mechanical’ PBX but with a whole host of additional features that offer increased productivity to any business
As a business grows so their telephony needs increase, this can be unnecessarily expensive if approached incorrectly. VosTel often save clients a significant amount of money on their monthly telephone costs by reviewing their line rental and offering an IP PBX option, this not only saves the client money but also opens up the opportunity to utilise the many associated features.
A business with a number of separate telephone lines (running separate numbers) would not be able to transfer calls, wouldn’t have the ability to park calls, divert calls or take advantage of features such as time of day routing. But one of the most powerful features is LCR (Least Cost Routing) which allows an outbound call to be sent via the cheapest carrier, this feature in itself can save a company a huge amount on call charges.
Telephony solutions aren’t always about ‘hard cash’ cost savings, the additional features that VosTel can offer will often become more important to the client than the fiscal benefits of using internet telephony. We have a vast array of companies who have seen the benefits of VoIP and the features associated with it, in fact they have become an integral part of their business.
VosTel’s experience and knowledge of IP PBX systems means you can rest assured that your system will be installed, configured and operational with the minimum amount of disruption. |
